Who is the course for

This programme is ideal for people managers who report into more senior managers and have the responsibility for the day to day people management of their respective teams.


LEVEL 1 – INTRODUCTION  – Step Up to Supervising/Managing Employees 2 Days

Pre-work Prior to attending this facilitated learning workshop, participants are asked to:  arrange a meeting with their manager to discuss their individual learning objectives and identify key actions on completion.  Think about some specific people management situations they would like to learn how to handle.  Read the article provided: 7 Tips for Management Success  Complete a questionnaire to understand their natural communication and supervisory style.

Learning Outcomes As per your brief and to also include:  To understand the role of the supervisor versus the individual contributor.  To recognise what’s different and identify what needs to change and how to be successful in the role.  To recognise the typical new manager traps and choose the correct course of action to avoid them.  To develop people management skills through structured skills practice using simple effective models. (Practice and feedback)  To examine one’s own supervisory style and increase self-awareness

Programme Content  The Role of a Supervisor  How to Set Objectives and Targets  How to Plan, Organise and Delegate  How to Communicate Assertively and Motivate (incl asking vs telling and using the right language  How to Measure performance  Giving Effective Feedback  Challenging people and situations clinic and best practices (incl. conflict / managing behaviours)  Personal Action Plans


2.5 Day (2 days on site) plus 2 x 2 hour tutorials by zoom and self-study

Accreditation Details: Invisio are an approved learning centre of the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). This enables us to provide practical management and leadership development programmes, which are accredited to the National Framework of Qualifications and can provide a springboard for future development – e.g. the next steps being a Certificate or a Diploma in Leadership and Management, with credits given for prior learning. As part of their assessment, participants will be required to complete a relevant work-based assignments to apply their learning to their workplace and present these back. These combined with satisfactory completion of the modules will result in the relevant ILM level Award in Leadership and Management which maps to the National Framework of Qualifications

LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of this Award programme participants will be able to:  Understand the leader’s role of embedding vision, mission and values into the every-day operations  Recognise the need for common sense of purpose  Communicate effectively using a range of communication styles  Understand the importance of team motivation and be able to improve levels of motivation and increase performance in the workplace  Identify workplace problems and take a structured approach to implementing the best solution

PROGRAMME FORMAT Participants will participate in 2 classroom full day sessions over 2/3 weeks, 2 x 2 hour sessions in the online classroom and complete several work-based assignments. We use accelerated learning techniques that combined with relevant work-related projects ensure learners get to apply their learning quickly, with both the learner and the organisation seeing the benefits of the investment.

DEVELOPING FUTURE LEADERSHIP CAPABILITY Through project work, presentations and assessments our programmes will provide a valuable springboard for high potentials to show their potential and in this regard, the active involvement of HR / Training and Operations Management is encouraged – we will work with you to advise how best this can be done to maximise the impact of the programme and identify future leaders as well as delivering real value to the business
