Over 100 people attend M1 Grow Your Business Expo in Drogheda
Date: 25th September 2019
M1 Skillnet in conjunction with Drogheda & District Chamber presented a very successful and information business event in the D Hotel on Wednesday September 25th. The event showcased the funding, supports and services available to local businesses from over forty government bodies and private companies.
Shona McManus President Drogheda & District Chamber expressed the chamber’s focus on bringing supports and service together with businesses, to help the education and development of businesses in the North East and along the M1 corridor, “We had great feedback from attendees and the intention is to run this event annually. The format was very conducive to accessing quick reliable information via three panel discussions and business stands, and also offered a great networking opportunity over a 3 hour period ”.
The event covered topics such as starting a business, where to gain finance, how to scale up and information about employee supports. There were panel discussions with participants from IDA, Enterprise Ireland, LEO, HBAN, NDRC, Linked Finance, AIB, Meath Enterprise, The Mill Enterprise Hub, Louth Partnership, Regional Skills Forum, DEASP and DKIT informing business owners of the supports they can get in terms of employees, internships, funding, finance, mentoring and much more.
According Aimee Chammas of Intreo “It was great to be a part of the ‘Grow Your Business Expo’ and delighted to know it’ll be an annual event. We all walked away with new contacts and new information. It was very positive and reassuring for the business owners to know there’s so much support there”.
The outcome of the event was very much about collaboration between all of the organisations to ensure businesses in the north east gain access to all available supports and information. The discussions were relevant for business attendees but the agencies also benefitted from becoming more aware of the needs of local businesses, and where they can send that business for the right support.
